The anti aging skin care products and cosmetics industries are huge businesses, turning over billions of dollars a year. Lots of women in the US want to look good and want to look younger and so big companies take advantage of this.

But sadly many of the anti aging skin care products that you buy just don’t really do very much. Unfortunately the cosmetics and skin care and anti aging industries are unregulated in the US and the companies can put just about anything they want in their products without proving that they work, and even without showing that the ingredients are safe for people to use.

Consequently there’s many anti aging skin care products that don’t work well and can have ingredients that are known to be dangerous.

But even so there are massive numbers of skin care and anti aging products sold and advertised for their ability to make your skin look younger and you look great.

So, how do you navigate your way through all this to choose an anti aging skin care treatment that does work, and doesn’t contain ingredients that you should be scared of?

This is how not to choose your anti aging products.

1. Don’t buy skin care and anti aging products with fragrances. Everyone like to smell nice and so big companies use fragrances. Look younger and smell good at the same time.

But there’s 2 problems. Firstly it’s unlikely that the skin care cream you’re buying will do very much to make you look younger.

And secondly, fragrances are chemicals and not good to put on your skin. And it’s even the same with perfumes but at least you use very little perfume on yourself, but with skin care products you apply much much more.

2. Don’t buy skin care creams that have collagen in them. Now this looks counter intuitive doesn’t it? Any educated in care consumer knows that the loss of collagen in your skin with ageing leads to skin sagging and wrinkles so it must be good increasing skin collagen levels.

Well yes and no. It is important to replace lost collagen but molecules of collagen are too big to penetrate the skin so putting collagen in the bottle doesn’t do anything, other than perhaps making you feel good.

But you can increase the levels of collagen in the skin by stimulating the skin to produce more of it’s own collagen.

Why then is there collagen in the bottle and why is that well-known movie star on TV telling you how much younger she looks? The reason is that the big anti aging skin care companies know that if customers see collagen in the bottle they will buy those bottles.

Even if it doesn’t do anything for you. Even if the ingredients can be suspect. It will sell.

That’s marketing.

But there is a problem. That celebrity is paid huge amounts of money to make that TV advertisement saying how great the products are.

So the anti aging skin care treatment that really doesn’t do much costs a bomb too. But that’s fine because most people believe that if it’s really expensive it has to be good. So they pay anyway.

So maybe you should just give up on anti-aging products because they don’t work? No. In fact there are some very good skin care and anti aging products that work well, are very reasonably priced and use known safe ingredients.

These products are not made by the big companies but by small niche skin care companies you won’t have heard of. They don’t spend on TV advertising which is why the products are moderately priced and why you’ve never heard of them.

Natural Skin Care Products don’t have these problems.
